One person's junk is another's Stradivarius

Empty curbs will be filled this weekend for a curbside Treasure Hunt.

The search for lost treasure may get easier this weekend.

The City of Stratford's first Treasure Hunt of the year will take place from Friday to Sunday.

The seasonal event is an opportunity for residents to recycle any unwanted household items simply by placing them at the curb.

Materials can be put out starting at 4 p.m. this Friday for anyone in the community to collect. Any unclaimed items must be removed from the curb by 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The City is reminding residents to not leave any items near the curb that aren’t intended to be picked over, like children’s toys or bicycles.

The goal of the event is to promote recycling and keep materials with some useful life out of Stratford’s landfill site.

Aside from this weekend, Treasure Hunts will take place on June 23-25, July 28-30, Aug. 25-27, and Sept. 22-24.
