NEWS RELEASE
PERTH COUNTY
************************
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of former Warden and Perth County Council member Barb MacLean. On behalf of county council and staff, I wish to offer my sincere condolences to her family and friends.

She began her political career in 1992 as a councillor for Hibbert Township. She remained in that role through amalgamation to what is now known as the Hibbert Ward of the Municipality of West Perth. In 2000, Barb was elected Deputy Mayor of West Perth. She then served as Warden of Perth County from December 2005 to December 2006. She returned to serve as Hibbert Ward Councillor from 2006-2016.

During her time on council, she also served on many boards and committees including the South Hibbert Athletic Association, Seaforth Fire Committee, Property Standards Committee, and the Municipal Liaison Committee. She was Chair of the Operations Committee, South Hibbert Athletic Association, and Striking Committees. She was a strong advocate for the agricultural community and was a strong voice for rural communities.

Her history of community service extended beyond her political career. Barb was also a member of the Women’s Institute, served on the board of the Mitchell and District Community Centre, and was the former director with the Perth Farm Safety Association.

In honour of her life and public service to our County, the County Courthouse flag will be lowered until the day of the funeral.

Rhonda Ehgoetz
Warden, Perth County
