December packed with festivities in St. Marys

The town of St. Marys has events across December for the holiday season

A host of holiday events are scheduled for St. Marys this year.

A recently launched Holiday Light Tour is the first of the festivities planned.

The tour features 15 homes that are decorated for the season. Maps are available at municipal facilities, online, and via the Driftscape app. The tour runs until Jan. 1.

WinterLights continues at Milt Dunnell Field every evening from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Every evening the Flats come alive with animated light displays depicting various holiday images. Interested citizens can tour the display by foot or by car – though the municipality recommends those on foot to social distance.

Horse and wagon rides return on Dec. 16, 17. 23, and 24. The carriage rides are free of charge thanks to WinterLights sponsors.

St. Marys Museum is holding 'A Wish Book Christmas' holiday exhibit until Jan. 6.

The Pyramid Recreation Centre is also offering free skating and swimming throughout the holiday season, sponsored by various local businesses. The town is recommending pre-registering.

Local downtown businesses have festive ideas for anyone looking for the perfect gift.

On Dec. 31, St. Marys welcomes in the new year with fireworks at the Grand Trunk Trestle, courtesy of the Rotary Club of St. Marys.

The show starts at 6 p.m.
