You will have a chance to give your thoughts on the City of Stratford’s procedural bylaw.

The city is hosting an in-person open house for the public next month.

Stratford city council voted to update the procedural bylaw this June. The bylaw governs how council and committee members carry out the business of the municipality. It is a bylaw that every municipality in Ontario is required to have.

Stratford’s current procedural bylaw was created in 2007 and has been amended periodically to ‘address housekeeping or legislative changes,’ per the city’s website.

Through this review, the city aims to improve the meeting experience of everyone involved (including the public, delegates, and councillors), ensure the efficiency of decision making, reflect the changing demographics within the city, and account for technological changes.

The open house is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., located in the auditorium at city hall.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to provide comments and/or feedback.
