After over five years of dedicated service to the Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce, we announce the retirement of our esteemed colleague and general manager, Eddie Matthews.
Matthews has been an integral part of our chamber’s growth and success. He leaves with us a legacy of leadership, vision, and tireless advocacy efforts. His time at the helm of our organization significantly shaped our entire region’s business community.
Under Matthews’ leadership, our chamber tackled unique challenges head-on. During the pandemic, he completely reworked how we ran our key events. For our annual business awards gala in 2021, he made it an outdoor, drive-in event that was still fun, still interactive, and supported local restaurants. He also played a hand in expanding our membership beyond Stratford and into West Perth and St. Marys.
His unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration among local businesses, advocating for economic development, and promoting a thriving business environment leaves an indelible mark on our community.
As Matthews embarks on this new chapter of his life, we express our deepest gratitude for his exemplary service and leadership to the people of Perth County. Matthews’ dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the chamber’s mission inspires us all.
The board of directors will soon start a search for Matthew’s successor. In the meantime, he will be working closely with us throughout the summer to ensure a smooth transition. He plans to leave his role following the chamber’s golf tournament in June.
We invite the region’s entire community to join us in expressing our appreciation and best wishes to Eddie Matthews as he embarks on this well-deserved retirement. Plans are underway for a celebration in his honour, with details to come.
