The Stratford Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) is now accepting nominations for its annual accessibility award.

Nominations will be accepted until Dec. 19 and can be submitted by email or by calling Roger Koert at 519-272-7151 or Diane Sims at 519-273-1138.

An AAC sub-committee will then review submissions and tour nominated services to select the winner. The winner will be recognized in January 2023 and be presented with the award at a council meeting.

The City has taken steps to ensure accessibility in local buildings and public areas and has recognized a business, organization, or individual for the past 11 years that has made a conscious effort to make their space or service more accessible.

The work done may be physical renovations or created services to better serve the public. Nominations can also be made for a business, group, or individual that has worked to advocate with others to promote accessibility and create equal opportunities.

Past nominees can apply again.

Previous winners of the award include the Stratford Business Centre, Stratford Festival, the former Stratford Northwestern Secondary School, The Local Community Food Centre, Stratford Country Club, Avondale United Church, 27 Market Place, Jobsite Brewing, Romeo Public School, Infinity Dance Studio and The Bruce Hotel.
