LTE: Resident loves the city...the roads...not so much

City resident has to adjust cycling route to avoid spills

Retired to Stratford about four years ago and frankly, we love it.

It's a wonderful city in so many ways. That said, I do have a beef about the condition of many streets. As a regular cyclist in and around the city, the pavement condition of many of our roads is atrocious and in some cases dangerous.

I have had to modify some of my cycling routes as a result of the pavement quality for fear of a spill from the large cracks and pot holes. I suspect that the city does undertake some sort of annual road resurfacing program, but I can honestly say that it seems rare to see any road receiving new asphalt.

Property taxes here are fairly significant comparatively speaking so one would expect that a portion of these taxes would be allocated to road repair and maintenance.
