I agree that nursing homes in Ontario are a mess. This has not happened just because of COVID.

Questions not addressed in this article are: Who pays for these personal support workers to go to the person’s home? How much does the government pay for each resident? What are the actual operating costs per bed?

It also does not mention that the Ontario government makes the rules and does inspections for all nursing homes. Rules are made by management that has no idea what is required for good resident care. Inspections are a joke – they inspect paperwork more than what is happening at the facility.

After talking to some folks trying to get approval to build a local facility near here, I was advised that the estimated costs are approximately 250,000 per bed. Can this be verified, and how do the taxpayers of Ontario pay for 30,000 beds at that price?

This article is a good start, but much more truthful information must be given to the public. How about continuing these articles?
