StratfordToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Jim McMyler, regarding our story, Poll: Five years after legalization, how readers see weed

In response to your weekend Nov 18-19 article Legalization Five Years Later Poll, I noted that there were no questions pertained to home growing.

It appears no one questioned in the poll has lived next to a four plant legal amount grower. The permeating stench emitted from these plants is not anyone's rosebush, to be sure.

In the latter 8-10 weeks of growth, the odour from four plants can force you indoors on the nicest late summer early fall days.

This can put formerly good neighbours on very uncomfortable grounds, both feeling they have rights. Not everyone has the diplomatic skill to deal with this.

In the plan to legalize, no consideration was given to this matter. Nor were any clear standards of setbacks and considerate plant location. Finally, no means of formal complaint, or recourse exists for those suffering the horrid odour assaulting the enjoyment of your yard, patio or even an open window on a nice late summer evening.
