Elbert Angus “Gus” Jones, age 84, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge (Milverton) on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Born in London, son of the late Ira and Annie (McEwan) Jones.
Gus is survived by his sons, Matt Jones (Annette Weeres) and Mike Jones. Also, his wife Elizabeth “Zibby” Jones. Much loved grandfather of Leah and Fischer Jones.
Gus will be remembered by his siblings Gordon (Pat) Jones, Marjorie Cunningham, Dorothy (Luca) Riccio, Douglas Jones, Janet Jones (Andy) and his special friend Barb Dalrymple and his many nieces and nephews.
Gus started out in London, Ontario as a butcher, changing his career to become a plumber for fifty plus years, working in London, Kitchener and Stratford. Gus had his own business in Stratford for years, then later working for Turner Plumbing before his retirement.
He loved a good game of crib, bridge and poker, reading a book, fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved social gatherings with family and friends. He also always used to go to the Stratford hockey games on Friday nights.
The Jones family would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful nurses and staff of Knollcrest Lodge for the exceptional care given to Gus.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Life for Gus on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. in the Reception Centre of the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford.
